16 years of partnership: JDisc Discovery and EcholoN

Our long-standing collaboration with EcholoN

For 16 years now, we at JDisc have been working closely with our partner EcholoN. But what’s the deal with this solution?

EcholoN is a software platform for IT service management (ITSM) developed in northern Germany that supports companies in the structured management of their IT services and assets. A central element is the EcholoN CMDB – Configuration Management Database, in which all relevant IT assets, their properties, and their relationships to each other are documented. The platform is designed as a full-fledged ITSM software that not only manages IT assets but also actively supports and automates company-wide processes. This makes EcholoN not only suitable for documenting the IT landscape, but also a central tool for making processes throughout the company more efficient, reliable, and transparent. This added value goes way beyond basic IT asset management and improves daily operations in a sustainable way.

JDisc Discovery as a data provider and integration into ITSM processes

EcholoN users will find that combining it with JDisc Discovery is a really valuable move. Our inventory data is integrated into the ITSM – IT Service Management Software EcholoN via the EcholoN connector. This makes it so service requests, changes, or incidents can be processed much more efficiently. The configuration management software also transparently documents configurations, dependencies, and relationships. This makes a static inventory list into a living database that’s integrated into service and support processes.

Current developments

One concrete innovation resulting from our partnership is the Windows 11 Compatibility Checker. This tool can automatically check all your devices to see if they’re compatible with Windows 11. It looks at important hardware needs like TPM, UEFI, RAM, and processors, so companies can figure out early on which systems are good to move to. It’s great for planning migrations and works well with the way you already do things.

Outlook

After 16 years of working together, we’re now looking to the future. We’re teaming up with EcholoN to develop new integration technologies and bring them to new areas like the IoT and Industry 4.0. We’re also focusing on providing stronger support for hybrid and cloud-based infrastructures, as well as on aspects of sustainability, for example through optimized processes throughout the entire asset lifecycle.
